Quantity Surveyor: Brick counters…we think not!

As a Quantity Surveyor you will be required to work out the quantity of work and materials needed for a specific job. You may often find yourself in steel-toed boots and a hard hat working out the correct quantity of materials needed for the construction of buildings and other large-scale developments. Anything from the number of bricks to bags of cement will be needed to be estimated by you to ensure that the progress of a project moves on smoothly.

An individual who is specialized in the field of seismic activity.

Software Engineer

Often referred to as a programmer, but there is a difference. This job deals with the lower levels of computer programming. A deeper understanding of a computer's architecture and assembly is needed, compared to a computer scientist for example. Software Engineers are often the people who program individual microchips, these operate independent of an operating system such as Windows. Software Engineers are usually employed by electronic firms that manufacture any independent electronic device.

Radiographer: X-Ray vision, well not quite...

Ever wished you could see through people, you know…see beneath their external appearances and really understand what they all about? Well, being a Radiographer is probably as close as you are ever going to get to that. A Radiographer is skilled in the production of X-Ray photographs, which can show the body’s skeleton by seeing through all the soft fleshy bits. By using really cool equipment you will be able to locate even the tiniest of breaks in a bone allowing the fracture to be treated properly.

Tracker - finding more than just a needle in a haystack

There is a level 1, 2, 3 qualification which includes track and sign ID as well as trailing a wild animal. Eventually you become a senior tracker after an extra assessment. Only after many years of practice you can be nominated by peers to become a master tracker. These trackers are amazing! Currently there are only 3 master trackers worldwide, all South Africans. (Editors note - stats subject to change)
