Anglo American EMEA Shared Services, Global Shared Services: Business Analyst, Marianna Cidaris, obtained the highest marks in South Africa for Paper P6: Advanced Taxation, when she wrote her exam earlier this year. Marianna hopes to write the final two papers for the ACCA Qualification in December.
BCom Accounting Honours graduate, Marianna decided to complete the ACCA qualification after travelling overseas: “When I went to Europe, newspaper advertisements indicated that employers were either looking for candidates with a CFA, CA or an ACCA qualification. I decided that it was a good idea to go the ACCA route”.
For the Accountancy paper (P2) Marianna attended lectures through ACCA’s Gold Status Approved Learning Partner, Forbes Lever Baker (FLB) Educational Institute. Marianna says that the one most important factor that appeals to her about ACCA is that fact that it allows candidates to study at their own pace. She has enjoyed all of the courses, particularly Tax and Accounting. She also likes the fact that the ACCA qualification “provides one with a different perspective from the South African syllabus”.
“I highly recommend the ACCA qualification, particularly to those who have completed their Degree and don’t know where to go from there. From my exposure overseas, I believe ACCA is a very good qualification and will get you far in life”.
Marianna believes the ACCA Professional qualification will open doors for her. She plans to pursue a career within the banking environment.
Marianna attributes her success to hard work and perseverance.
She urges ACCA students to: “Keep at it. It will be of great benefit to you and a major achievement, with commensurate rewards.”
