City: Athens, Greece
Interesting website for the City: visitgreece.gr
Is it easy to navigate around the city? Not at all. This is a big sprawling city. It has long - complicated train and bus lines. This can be difficult to get your head around unless you spend more than a few days there. 0
Hostels and Hotels (few, many, tons): Plenty. But watch where you stay as some locations are not going to seem as friendly as others. 2
Best part of the city? The Acropolis. It is the tourist highlight for a very good reason. Its central location is fascinating and its building ruins still take much of their original shape, creating an easy image of what it would have looked like in its grandest days.
Is it a good travel destination for young adventurers? It is indeed. It has access to the fabled Greek Islands, whether you want to see the sights of Santorini or be at the parties of Mykonos. Athens is the starting location for most travelers. 2
Climate: Nice and hot.
Would you live there forever? I wouldn't. I did not like Athens and only would go there to reach the Greek Islands or to visit the Acropolis, hardly reason enough to live in this city.
Any funny experiences whilst you were there? We were on the metro waiting for our journey to begin. A funny looking man sat beside us, not making any eye contact. He then started scrounging through his bag - urgently searching for something. That is when we saw his bag was filled with.... knives of all sorts! I didn't wait to find out what he was looking for - I quickly jumped onto the next carriage instead!
Points: 4 out of 6
Rating out of ten: 6.7 This should be the entry and exit for Greece only. Acropolis aside, the country's best attractions are really outside of this city.
