The superhero sabbatical, year out or gap year adventure...

It is not easy being a Superhero, from saving and protecting the helpless, the planet or the universe from super villains and of course managing a normal secret identity lifestyle – a superhero career is pretty much filled to capacity!

However as in the real world, superhero’s do need time off. Time to recharge the batteries and recuperate from a tough workload. Finding a career and hero balance is difficult – but if they did indeed take a break, where would they go to escape the mad rush of their lives?

Being a Superhero is not a profession; rather, it is a calling. Battling with enemies that only the limitless  stretches of  imagination can even conceive of, is no easy task, and finding the time to recuperate is even less unlikely, when one has to still adhere to a normal, day to day, earthly, lifestyle. Paying the daily bills, and managing to keep up appearances to distract from one's moonlighting escapades, is all about maintaining a balanced career. We checked out which Superhero has the coolest, everyday career!

Marvel

In 2006 we took on ‘Superhero Careers’, with the flight of Spider-Man, Daredevil and the Incredible Hulk! Now in 2011, Spider-Man is rocking the world from various transformations to a complete reworking of the Spider-Man movie franchise.

However no matter how busy Spider-Man is, whether it is changing his style or saving the world he still has to keep up to date with the rent payments and his basic living expenses! Life in New York isn’t cheap and living the Superhero life doesn’t pay as much as one would expect. So how does a web-slinging Superhero keep his life in “cheque”?

A career in politics can be stressful and one of the biggest challenges ever! In today’s economic and political environments, presidents, prime ministers and political leaders, seem to be more all-rounders than just people champions. From managing financial, employment, education, social and even cultural issues, these are just a few of the objectives that now see the leaders of nations becoming more than just political figureheads but rather CEO’s of nations! However imagine if these roles could be fulfilled by Superheroes that have saved the world from many an evil villain, it could or could not work but whatever the case it sure will be entertaining!

Armed with a hammer and a merciless tempter it’s hard to imagine how the Norse God of Thunder could be anything else but heroic and battle ridden. Harder still, is to imagine that this giant of a hero is actually a doctor when he isn’t battling villains and defending the innocent.

It’s a great way to pay the bills and an awesome way to add balance to one’s life given that one’s alter ego is matched with a battle hammer named Mjolnir. Although it is to be noted that Thor did work as a construction worker at some point which is self explanatory as his hammer provides the perfect training for working on a construction site. Medicine on the other hand is a whole different ball game altogether…
